The Listie Volunteer fire Department was founded in 1952. The first meeting was held if February of 1952 at the old school house in Listie.
On May 9, 1921, fire destroyed the Motel, Restaurant and dance floor. This is where the old fire hall stands today. The old Listie fire hall was built in 1952. Paul Wolford and Tom Pucci donated the land where the old hall stands. The members borrowed up to $9000.00 from the Berlin Cemetery Association to build the hall.
Before the hall was built, the trucks were kept in the Milard Shaffer barn, approximately where Steinkirchners is now.
1952 Officers were as follows:

President:                                Harvey Mull
Financial Secretary:              Marko Biancotti
Corresponding secretary:   Harold Urban
Treasurer:                                Paul Wolford
Chief:                                        Charles Heist
In the 1950's, calls could be received at Harold Urban's.  That is where the siren could be sounded. The siren could also be set off at the hall.
Fundraisers were in effect in the late 60's and 70's. The Fire Company hosted a circus held at the grove. The Circus, named Sells and Gray, consisted of 2 shows --- an afternoon and evening show. Both shows were sold out.

More recently, the Fire Company has held truck, farm tractor, and garden tractor pulls, which have become popular and successful.  During the 2007 and 2008 pulling season, the Fire company also held one Semi and Triaxle Pull each pulling season, which ended up being standing room only over at the Listie Grove.

In the early 1970's, radio communications were established. Communications consisted of a base radio and radios in the trucks.

Original gear consisted of raincoats and gum boots with steel helmets. The original S.C.B.A.'s were setup with canister type bottles and could be used only once!
In 1980 a new truck hall was built costing $28,000.00. Svonavec, Inc. donated the land.

In 2007, the fire police was formed.  The original members were:  Brandon Briskey, Lorraine Holt, Nick Paugh, Sandy Rand, Brenda Shaffer, Matt Shaffer, Mardi St. Clair, Joe Walker, Dave Will, Jo Will, and Justin Yachere.
