When I am called to duty, God,
Where the flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late,
Or save some older person from
The horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert,
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and effectively
To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling
And give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor
And protect his property.

And if according to Your will,I have to lose my life
Please bless with Your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

Amen.

Firemens Prayer
Fireman's Wife's Prayer

The table's set, the meal's prepared, our guests will soon arrive.

My husband once more disappears with a hope of keeping a child alive.

While waiting at home alone, our plans having gone awry,

My first impulse is merely to sit right down and cry.

But soon again I realize the importance of my life,

When I agreed to take on the duties of being a fireman's wife.

While there are many drawbacks, I'll take them in my stride,

Knowing "My daddy saved a life" our children can say with pride.

The gusting winds and raging flames may be his final fate.

But with God's help I can remain my fireman's faithful mate.

"A Fireman's Son"

MY DAD'S A FIREMAN,
And proud am I, indeed,
For he is someone special,
Whose wisdom I still need.

Dad and I are buddies
And, to me, that means a lot.
A bond to last forever,
With love that forms the knot.

He took me to parades
When other kids stayed home,
And he taught me how to play baseball
On a field without a dome.

He showed me how to fix things,
Even let me use his tools.
What I learned from Dad,
They don't teach in schools.

The examples that he set,
I follow everyday.
Placing God and Country first,
In showing me the way.

Precious are those years,
Now tucked away with time,
Tenderly remembered:
I, as the leaf.  He, as the vine.

Dad, hear me as I say
"I love you", man-to-man,
And, I'm proud to tell the world,
MY DAD'S A FIREMAN.

FIREMAN'S DAUGHTER PRAYER
I Love You Daddy

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray dear Lord my soul You'll keep.
My mommy says I need to pray
For many others on this day.
My daddy, he's a fireman you know;
He helped save many lives today.
And though I know he's safe with You,
I'd rather have him here right now
Cause he's the one who always said
My prayers with me each night.
And Daddy, if you hear me
Way up in the sky,
I want to say, I love you,
I'm proud of you,
I wish you didn't have to die.
A FIREMAN'S MOM

A fireman's mom is in a class of her own,
Like an angel from heaven, like a queen on a throne.
Her heart and spirit as large as a mountain,
With a smile that sparkles like a sun-splashed fountain.

She's put up with me since the first sound I'd spoken,
Even to this day ~ that's a feat seldom broken!
While she's fully aware of the danger I face,
She rarely shows it ~ not even a trace.

But deep within ~ her thoughts are more prayerful,
"Lord, watch over my child ~ OH please ~ be careful."
A beautiful lady with her charm and appeal,
Never missing a birthday or my favorite meal.

Like a rare-cut diamond; a priceless breed,
Always ready to help any person in need.
Not mentioned enough, like a prayer or a psalm,
"You're loved more than ever," my FIREMAN'S MOM.

A FIRE CHIEF'S PRAYER

I am called to many duties Lord
And now I've been called home.
I've had to leave the ones I love
To stand before Your throne.

I'll not complain, it's not my way,
But there are some things I'll ask.
And please, Lord, grant them to me
For the loved ones I hold fast.

I dare to ask because I know
How You've blessed in the past.
I've learned to trust in Your grace, Oh Lord,
That's how I've come this far.

So now, O God, I humbly pray
Hear this Fire Chief's prayer.
Bless my wife and family,
So often left alone,
They knew where I was going
And trusted You to bring me home.

Well, now I'm home and wait for them,
Keep them within the faith,
That one day, someday,
We'll be together in this place.

And O dear God, bless my men;
I trained them as best I could.
I tried to do Your will with them
And lead them as You would.

I need to know You are with them Lord,
Or else how can I stay
And peacefully enjoy
This place of endless day.

This heaven where there is no night,
No fire to kill and burn.
I guess that's why its now my rest,
My place, my turn.

And Lord, be with my community
And keep it safe as it can be,
For all its folks are special,
And very dear to me.

They are all my friends, and by Your grace,
I served them as best I could.
So hear this Fire Chief's prayer, O Lord,
And grant it please, I already knew You would.
